Treatment Philosophy
Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders
Helping someone detox from drugs or get sober from alcohol and achieve mental balance takes care, understanding, skill, and compassion. At Morningside, we have a treatment program consisting of all of the elements required for the long-term success of our residents:
- We treat chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders with equal importance. Our experience with dual diagnosis and associations with various professionals allows us to develop a personalized treatment plan for each Morningside resident.
- Upon arrival, our medical staff gives each resident a psychiatric evaluation to help facilitate the first few days at Morningside. A full evaluation follows shortly thereafter, with frequent follow-ups during the treatment process.
Our therapists conduct clinical interviews and help residents identify and deal with many of the issues that brought them into treatment. If diagnostic testing is needed, our therapists administer the appropriate test, as well as other needed tests in order to aid in the diagnosis of any co-occurring mood or personality disorders. Diagnostic testing for learning disabilities can also be conducted at the therapist’s recommendation.
- Each of our residents is assigned to an experienced addiction treatment specialist (e.g., case manager) to guide them through their treatment experience. They receive an individual treatment plan reviewed weekly by the entire clinical staff so progress and target goals can be evaluated and revised as needed.
- We believe for long-term recovery to take place, the healing process must include The Mind, The Body and The Spirit, so the Morningside program is designed to heal the whole person.
